The company uses a structured barrier management approach designed to help prevent catastrophic events, support operational integrity, and protect personnel and the environment. Valaris recognizes multiple barrier elements that work together to reduce risk and strengthen process safety performance. Each barrier element is implemented and maintained as part of the company’s broader health, safety, and environmental (HSE) framework.

Our Operational Assurance Program
Our Operational Assurance Program is designed to help verify that critical barrier elements remain healthy and effective, and support safe, reliable offshore operations.
- Self- Verification - Ongoing verification activities performed onsite by rig-based personnel responsible for barrier health and operational safety. This includes assessing safety-critical equipment and verifying compliance with Life Savers through dedicated checks and processes.
- Oversight - Supervisory verification activities conducted by both rig-based and shore-based leadership, including Critical Area Verifications performed by department heads and line supervisors. This process also includes verification of compliance with Life Savers and operational assurance standards.
- Audits - Rig management and Business Unit audits conducted to assess operational performance, process safety, and compliance with Operational Assurance Program requirements. This includes fleetwide audits performed by the corporate Core Value Team to support continuous improvement across Valaris operations.
